Chase BP Visa.....possible no?

I have been wanting to get a BP gas card because that is where I always get gas and with spending 100.00 a week in gas, I thought that would be a good card to add for rebuilding my credit. I went to the site and that is when I saw that the card is offered by Chase. That scared me quite a bit because I get the feeling that you have to have better scores than what I have to get any card from them. I only wanted the gas card itself but it had where you could apply for the bp visa and if you were turned down for that, they would automatically see if you qualify for the gas card so I went for it. I figured it would be one hard pull for 2 cards and I really just want the gas card anyways. So, I got the message stating that my application is under review and they will let me know something within 2 weeks. I automatically assume that is going to be a no. I called the recon number and got nowhere. The lady that I spoke to said it was in review and there was nothing I could do until they have reached a decision and then they would let me know by mail. Should I just end it there and see what happens? Is it more than likely a no anyways since my score is not real high?

Re: Chase BP Visa.....possible no?

Does anyone have any advice on this one? I don't know whether to call and talk to another person or let it go. I have never dealt with Chase before. If I should call, what should I say? I have never called and did a recon (if that's what this is...lol)

Re: Chase BP Visa.....possible no?

I'd call in again and ask for the status. Can't hurt to ask.

Id be slow to get BP card if you live in US.  They are selling off their assets like crazy now due to the BP Oilspill litigation and the expected billions of dollars in CWA/OPA fines.

I'd call again. Different CSR, different perspective, mood, etc. You've already taken the hit. What do you have to lose? Good luck!

Re: Chase BP Visa.....possible no?

I just called and the operator said the application is still pending. I guess I will just wait and see what comes in the mail....I'm sure they keep track of you calling and I don't what to seem like a stalker or anything....lol

If they do deny me for both, does submitting an application at least put you on the chase radar for the furture? I mean will they then periodically look at you and see if you are creditworthy later and send a pre-approval or an invitation to apply?

I knew they were in trouble at one time, I didn't realize they were still in trouble with all that. I haven't been following it. I have a BP that is very close to my house and I know the people that actually own the convienant store so I just kinda stay loyal to there but I guess it's possible if BP is going under, they will be a different gas station at some point.

Re: Chase BP Visa.....possible no?

They are contemplating selling off all their Gulf assets.  The hit they could take under OPA alone can be extreme.  They released an estimated 5 million barrels of oil before the well was capped.  So over 5 billion in OPA fines alone (see below)

§4301(b) Civil penalties are authorized at $25,000 for each day of violation or $1,000 per barrel of oil discharged. Failure to comply with a Federal removal order can result in civil penalties of up to $25,000 for each day of violation.
