Chase Changes FU SUB

Just saw that Chase has now changed the SUB on the FU from 3% for the first year on the first $20k, to now match the Freedom ($200 on $500 of spending).

Thoughts on this? I'm in the garden for now but was really hoping to get the FU and rack up that bonus. Such a shame.

Re: Chase Changes FU SUB

Unfortunately, SUBs are subject to change at any time unless the lender has indicated a specific timeframe where the promotion expires.

Sites like DoC, for instance, are usually a good resource in the event that the SUB returns. So, all you can do is wait until it's offered again (if at all) or if you get targeted for it.

When I log into my account I still have the 3%/20k offer that I’m prequalified for. I guess the 3%/20k will now be a targeted to specific people just like the 4% offer.

Re: Chase Changes FU SUB

That stinks... the 3%/20k SUB was pretty sweet. It was worth $300 (in addition to another $300 you'd get without the SUB).

The $200 SUB is FAR easier to get, because you only need to spend $500 instead of $20k... but for anyone who was going to spend $20k in the first year anyways, they're now missing out on a free $100 Smiley Sad

On the plus side, $100 isn't an earth-shattering loss. It's still a great card regardless.

Not a big surprise.... math and marketing don't mix. Getting back an extra 1% on 20k doesn't make the splash on the screen that "Get $200!" does for most people. Even the 4% deal probably draws less eyes than just the flat $200 from a marketing standpoint.

Right. People want quick and fast money, and this will certainly get you there. But there is value to be missed if you could max it out. I wonder if they'll send selected flyers for bigger SUB's like the FU 4% offer.

I know this is off topic, but since I am locked out of Chase for probably the rest of my life (50K IIB), I just can't get past the Chase "FU" card.   You know where my mind goes.   And it's what Chase would tell me in a New York minute!

Good for those of you who can get these cards from Chase.  For travel benefits, which is my thing, they are unsurpassed (except by AMEX, which I'm also locked out of).

Right but that on that additional $19.5K spend, you could get  a few other sign-up bonuses far exceeding $100.

For anyone who regularly churns cards for SUBs, Chase probably isn't a good option anyways

Re: Chase Changes FU SUB

On the bright side, you could put a large portion of the spend on your World of Hyatt card, and end up with another free night, plus all the points, including double points on dining, airfare, and gym fees. Most likely 3 nights, possibly 4 depending on the Hyatt destination. After you get the $200 SUB for the CFU.
