Chase Closing My Accounts!

Few years ago I had a chase freedom card that chase closed I didn't think much of it

Fast forward 3 years later....

So I opened a chase checking account online and while I was at it I applied for the Ritz Carlton card and was instantly approved for 10k CL, few days later I get a letter in the mail from chase stating they're closing my account on September 27th so I called to see why and they said just like you reserve the right to close your checking account without any questions we reserve the same right, so I asked if this was going to close my. We credit card so she transferred me to a credit card specialist and first she told me there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my card then as she digged more she said anything you open with chase will be closed, but the card is still opened.

I am so confused!

Re: Chase Closing My Accounts!

Sorry to hear but answer me this.  Why did Chase close your account a few years back?  That will be the clue as to why they said, "Anything you open will be closed".  What happen a few years back?  Care to elaborate?

Re: Chase Closing My Accounts!

I honestly don't remember, I never thought too much of it because I hardly used the card.

Weird thing is they also closed my brothers chase freedom card and closed his bank accounts within a couple days apart of closing my chase freedom card.

Ok.  Something must have happened for them to close you and your brother's account.  You should try and find out why it was closed if you want to have a Chase card/account moving forward and address the issue.

Because, until then your accounts will be closed even if approved.  You have been flagged at the backend.

Sorry for your troubles. Did you ask the rep why? If the rep couldn't answer this question, you may want to visit a local Chase bank to get some answers. Hopefully, there's one in your area. If not, I would make another phone call to find out what's going on.

Has your brother called to find out why his accounts were closed? Best of luck!

They won't tell you why. There are threads about this exact thing happening on FT.

Anyone in the family or whatever could have done something, and they just close all (semi-)related accounts.

They have a lot of members. Someone did something wrong with their accounts. It is easier to manage this many accounts through automatic.

Re: Chase Closing My Accounts!

Is there anything negative on your credit report? Have you done anything with bitcoin or large sums of unexplained cash deposited to your account?

+1

While we can speculate here all night about what might have happened, if the OP truly has no idea of what might be going on he needs to get to a Chase branch pronto - if it were me I would be there when they open tomorrow AM.

The only time I've read of a situation similar to this is when there was an issue with suspected embezzeling or other illegal activity.  That doesn't mean anything bad is actually happening, just that (in the other cases) something was done to flag the accounts... sometimes rather than deal with the SARs a bank will "keep things simple" and just close all the accounts, both credit and deposit.

There's no way to know for sure until you speak to somebody higher up, though.  If it's a security concern like I mentioned, it's likely that the lower level CSRs won't be able to provide any information.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
