Re: Chase Freedom 2013 Category

Can't you buy groceries at drugstores like walgreens?  Sure some products can be more expensive at drugstores than at supermarkets, but if the groceries you buy at the drugstore are coded properly (and I am willing to bet they will be and everything will be fine) to qualify for the 5% CB then it might still be worth it if the 5% back will be net positive.

You can't buy produce (vegetable + fruit) in stores like Walgreen, not even microwaved food, If any these stores sell chips, soft drink, etc.

5% out of $1 is 5 cents. Drugstores don't sell stuff that is only 5 cents more expsensive, the price difference is usally tens of cents to couple dollars.

No Best Buy in the 4th quarter? Suckage.

I just purchased a TV and got $35 from the 5% cashback PLUS the 10-10 bonuses.

No groceries either? Looks like the BCE is going into heavy rotation mode for me.

At least the Freedom will be seeing usage in the first three quarters. Maybe this will make it easier to decide between Freedom and More.

Best Buy typically does not have the "best" price, if you catch my drift. I bought Panasonic TC-L42ET5 from Amazon for $600, while Best Buy goes for $800 right now (which is $30 more expensive than standard Amazon price, $770). You did compare your price to other sellers right?

It does have Amazon.com as 5% category, which I think is better than Best Buy.

also bestbuy recodes their merchandise with the manufacturer. For instance my TV is a 6000 but they renumbered it to 6001 which does not exist besides in bestbuy so NO ONE can price match it lol

This is an awesome discovery. Do you have a link to this by any chance? I'd be interested in reading more about the various tricks vendors pull on customers.

i didn't see a link on it I just noticed it on my own, for instance look at the Asus Vivobook that was on the black friday's ad you won't find it anywhere or the 55 inch samsung led tv for$799 (one I got) I just purchased it at bestbuy so i could hit my spending cap for my freedom and 5% transfering those points to Sapphire so i'll get about $125+ (10/10) bonus as well. The model number doesn't match up with anything else in the world lol just bestbuy =)

congrats on the tv. my limit is sadly not enough to put a tv on though =/

i instead bought my friend a laptop worth about 20 dollars in cash back and put my tv on my best buy card.

i wanted the 55' as well but at 3 am when i got to the store they were out.

so instead ended up getting a 47' lg but it had 4 hdmi ports and it was 3d so i guess it worked out.

plus 24 months 0 financing that the freedom doesnt offer plus it kept me at premier silver for another year woo.

I know.

I'd never buy from Best Buy unless I'd know I was getting the best deal.

Amazon had nothing close to that when the sale went up. I even got a free HDMI cable out of it as well.

And getting $35 cash back to boot with it, made it a more than sweet deal. The closest I saw to it was Target for Black Friday and it was just a price match. I would have lost the cash back. And the cable.

Right now, Amazon has the same TV listed for $1,097.99.

You'd spend more covering the difference than you would make back in cash back.

Not worth it.

Well I would like to know how you came up with that.  Sound certain, don't you?

Idk, im just saying that if i had the card I'd be doing some calculations and comparing prices before i completely dismiss the idea of shopping at walgreens and giving up 5% CB.
