I think i know the answer to this but im just double checking. There is no need for a chase checking account if you plan to take your freedom ur points and transfer them over to your csp points right?

Chase checking just gives you an annual 10% bonus to the UR points you earn on the Freedom, whether you have the CSP or not. So no, you don't have to have a Chase checking to transfer from Freedom to CSP, it just gets you an extra bonus on the Freedom points.

If anyone has experience banking with Chase, how easy it is to transfer money to other institutions? Are there fees related? How about account fees?
I currently use BoA and I don't pay any fees as I request transfers using outside institutions. I figure I could do the same with Chase. I just don't know if it is worth the hassle of switching.

They have different tiers of checking accounts. The lowest tier has a $12 monthly service fee that is waived if you do at least $500 in direct deposits a month OR keep a $1,500 minimum daily balance in the account OR have an average daily balance of $5,000 or more in qualifying linked accounts (i.e. savings, investments). There are no fees for external transfers unless they are wire transfers - which I'm assuming that is not what you are talking about.

Yeah just for transferring money between all of my accounts, no wires. Which tier do you recommend? I would have monthly direct deposits.

I would just get the basic account, as long as you are depositing at least $500 a month.

I use the mid tier which requires a $15k minimum daily balance for no service fee mainly for the free checks and free safety deposit box. But I initally used the basic one which worked fine as well.
You can have lots of bank accounts so it's not all or nothing. If you like your current banks, you can open the Chase account, park $1,500 in it and be done. With today's low interest rates, you are not going to be losing much money on that $1,500, e.g. $15 a year if moved from a 1% savings account, and you can see if the extra URs on Freedom spend will more than make up for that.
