Chase Trifecta.. still a value?

With their new Flex MC and the Unlimited getting more cash back values than just 1.5%, is there any reason to go for the trifecta anymore? I was thinking of converting my Freedom (not Flex) back to the Unlimited since it gives a bit more value, but would it be better to apply for it instead? Thoughts?

I think it depends on whether you value Chase's travel portal or transfer to travel partners. With CSR the points are at least 1.5x worth.

I think you still need either CSR/CSP to combine points and use travel portal.

Worth it, IMHO.

Hi @Anonymous,

Are you planning to go for the CSP/CSR at some point to complete the Trifecta?  It appears you only have the CF right now.

If you think the Trifecta will be of value to you, and you plan to to go for it, I'd recommend applying for the CFU to get the SUB.  Based on your signature, you are 2/24, so shouldn't have any issues there.  Other option would be go for the CSP/CSR, if you are interested in either of them.  Do you have any preapprovals from Chase?

The CFU covers the additional multipliers that the CF is missing (from the CFF), but you would be missing the 5x categories on the CF if you PC it, which can be valuable with the CSP/CSR.

As far as the Chase travel portal, you can use it without having the CSP/CSR, but you will only be able to use points and get the multipliers for redemptions when using the CSP/CSR.  You can use the CFU/CFF in the portal to earn the 5x when using the card, but I beleive CF is still 1x.

I would only go for the CSP/CSR if i did get the CFU because they all three would go together well for the points portal. The CFU gives a lot more value than it did at just a flat 1.5% too.. hmm... given me something to think about for sure!

If you can find use of their portal then it may be worth looking into one of their premium cards. With airline prices on the rise and award availability becoming hard to come by, that 1.5cpp may be something worth looking at. The perk of booking that way if that you're ticket is the same as a rev pax and you'll earn redeemable miles and also work towards status if that means anything to you.

Hm I wasnt thinking I would qualify right now for a premium card yet.. slightly overextended but I have heard the FU is a possible option. I have one inquiry, no negs, been a chase customer for about 5 years.. that sort of thing. Later may go for the Sappire though.
