Did anyone else recieve notices that they are hiking up the interest rates? I got my notice last week, my score improved over 100 points in the last few months and they are still hiking my interest rate.
There is already a thread about this title "It Begins: Chase letter regarding changes . . . " Scroll through here a bit. It should be on the main screen because it's a very active topic.
The consensus is that most people (me included) received a .25% APR increase, though some received more. How much is yours increasing?
On the bright side, you should also have the option of converting to a different Chase product, perhaps with rewards or with a lower APR. Call 'em!
This is true. A Chase rep told me that they're prepared to talk APR decreases with Wamulians as soon as the conversion is official.
I've had good luck with APR decrease requests on my existing Chase card, so I'm figuring it won't be a big deal.
As for the specific product question: Maybe; nobody really knows. My best guess, given what Chase just told me, is that the Wamu conversions have as good a chance as existing Chase accounts for product changes. And those chances, of course, depend on the state of your credit and the particular requirements of the product to which you'd like to switch.
Phoning Chase: They can't do ANY product changes on Wamu accounts until the official conversion in March. Call back then. If you want to do a change on your EXISTING Chase account, call anytime.
