Re: Chase being super mean

Pattern,

I wouldn't take it personally, they did the same thing to me this week, my cl has been over 12k for years, never missed a payment, always paid more than the min payment and they dropped me to 9k.

I sent a secure message asking why and got a reply that someone in the "appropriate dept" would look at it and respond within 7 days.  My credit scores are in the high 700's and have been for 10 years. The only thing i can think of is I have a citi card too and they just raised me to 13k so maybe Chase figures they will lower me??? I don't understand the process, if you have always been a great customer then what's the concern?

Good luck Smiley Happy

Now that I think of it Citi did increase several of my limits so maybe Chase thought I didnt' need the CL which I don't but was bummed that they lowered Auto. But since they brought it back up I'm okay with it.

Update: Well I sent a secure message online and they said they sent a letter why I got the decrease but then automatically bumped back up to original $3500. Unsure if I'll recon on CSP. Really doubt that I'll get them to change their mind after I burned them

That's great news

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Chase being super mean

For those who have had CL decreases recently:

1. Are you carrying balances on your Chase cards (or others)?

2. What is the ratio of your total CL (all cards) to your income? (maybe too high for Chase)

@370Z

So to not hijack OPs post- I'd suggest starting a new thread. I'd be interested to see the responses.

Re: Chase being super mean

Subscribing since I have a Chase and was going to ask for an increase when the time comes. I'm using it and PIF every week but using my new Amex (the same way with making payments a few times a week), but have been charging thousands every few days. The last thing I want is for Chase to see that and lower my CL. Smiley Surprised

Re: Chase being super mean

I had a paid charge-off with Chase back in 2003 and they have held it against me ever since.  It's ten years later and I still can't do business with them.  Meanwhile, I have built very solid and profitable mutually respectful relationships with BoA and Discover, so I don't really need a Chase card anymore.  Chase just isn't worth the hassle to deal with.

Message says we will forward your message to the right department and I will get a letter from them in 7-10 days or call if urgent. OK  so I wait for the reason for denial.
