If you have a Chase card and would not like to waste a HP on a possibly futile CLI, I've heard that it would be good to apply for a Chase afifliate card like the Chase Amazon and then allocate that credit to your main card. How long after getting the bonus for the new card would it be reasonable to call to allocate the credit and close the other account?
I definitely don't want that to happen, that's why I asked. I wonder how long people are waiting, becuase I've seen the new account then allocate advice a lot.
Right and usually in those cases that card has gotten used and the person just no longer has any use for it. Like maybe i would suggest opening a new card and transferring the whole limit except maybe $500 (the minimum) and sock drawer the card. Charge maybe a small item here and there and pay it off. Just so it doesnt look too suspicious, opening a new card would hurt your AAOA vs. asking for a CLI. Also Chase might double pull depending on the card or profile for a new account. So your sacraficing more by opening a new account vs asking for a CLI.
I was pre-approved for a Slate in August after having been appoved for a Freedom in July with $500. I figured with the Slate pre-approval I'll probably get a decent CL as it's mainly a BT card. I was approved for a 5K limit and a couple of weeks ago I transferred $4500 of that to the Freedom via secured message and they did it without a problem. My Slate currently sits at $500 and is SD'd. I may run an online charge through it soon just in case...
What is the Chase card with the highest normal limits? Slate? A co-branded card?
Typically, though not always, Chase partner CCs tend to issue higher CLs upon approval.
Even though I do not recommend it but I have done it (not closing new card) When I tried to get a CLI on my Freedom it was denied so I apped for the Marriott card and got 16K - moved over 1K and got my 5K Freedom. Crazy? I guess so but I did not see how Chase would ever approve me a CLI on my Freedom so I figured I will go for the gamble and app for a new card and got shocking results. The only thing I wanted was a 5K CL and without apping for a new card I would still have 4K on my Freedom as Chase denied my CLI..not even 1K but at the same time approved a new account with 16K ![]()

Limits aren't just a matter of the card. As always, one's credit and income matter.
