Yikes. A side moral of this story for travelers is also tread very carefully with LCCs, particularly regional ones. They can go defunct and/or cease operations to/from a particular airport with frightening speed. While any airline can go defunct, the chances these will collapse at the wrong time for you are much, much higher.
The card company doesn't cover the charge? Just about every place else you buy from, you get refunded if you don't receive the item and they go under. They have to settle unfulfilled merchandise/services in bankruptcy, in most cases, unless something has changed. This is travel insurance, and need not be a travel insurance claim.
