When Citi Double Cash first came out it was a Bin#542418 and most were issued at a standard/classic level card. It was reported that those who could P/C lost their World or World Elite with Revovling Credit Line when they came over. Now that was in the early days when Citi was not really issuing World or World Elite Level Cards. As we all know ... this has changed. My card was a P/C and issued as a regular card and I called in for something and the CSR stated I had a World Card I said my card said standard no World ... as we continued the converstaion she was able to change my card into a Citi Double Cash Back as a World Elite but no revolving credit line (the CL was $5K) so you may be on to something with the Bin# and higher tier. Citi is ever evolving? Smiley Wink

I do not understand how citi could issue cards with wemc emblem and not give all wemc benefits. Seems like that would be illegal....can I put a corvette emblem on a ford pinto and sell it as such??? I know mine says wemc, but I've never used the extra benefits on that or any Visa Signature cards...so I do not know.

What benefits of the WEMC?  Most of the features are added services, and likely involve surcharges or additional fees or higher prices on said service.  Most of the travel related services only apply when you go through Carson Wagonlit, which from other reports, is not cheap.

I found this as to the general WEMC benefits: https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/consumers/find-card-products/credit-cards/world-elite.html

Cit has some addtional benefits and such, price rewind comes to mind.

Most broad services that are available on cards, such as lost luggage insurance or something like travel insurance or purchase price insur, are added benefits from the issuers of the card, and not usually from MC or V.  Some may straddle, like Visa Signature's requirement of issuers to create annual statements for cardholders.  It's up to the issuer to create that annual statement and send it to you, but Visa requires they do it.  In the bigger picture, annual statements are not too expensive to produce.

Re: Cit Double Cash WEMC - Does Have Full WEMC Benefits

AndrewBee your comments really strike at the core of Visa Signature, World and World Elite added benefits. The added costs. In comparing the costs through some of the services and what I can acquire on my own confirms that in my experiences (limited as they may be) I could find less expensive alternatives. Carson Wagonlit used to be owned by Curt Carlson (Carlson Companies) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and he provided top shelf service with a corresponding high price. The way I perceive the high tier product benefits is "... if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it ...). Another words, they are really geared for the high fliers (more profitable wealthy customers). Limos and private jets only really happen with the rich ... need I say more?

Pretty much, yes.  When my DC was upgraded from WMC to WEMC, the flyer said I got "these amazing benefits":

- Mastercard Priceless Cities : VIP access to professional sports events, best seats for amazing shows, tables worth talking about, hotel upgrades, shopping adventures

- Personal Concierge Service : dinner reservations, entertainment and travel recommendations, around the world

- Mastercard Airport Concierge : arrange an agent to escort you through 450 international airports at a 15% discount, maybe even expedited security and immigration

Ho hum.  Smiley Happy

I've only seen 552479 used on Prestige and AAdvantage Executive.

I wonder when the US banks will start issuing the new MasterCard BINs starting with the number 2?

Say what? Tell us more! Not heard of the Mastercard starting with a "2" ... did a Google Search and got the answer. Looks like the Mastercards being issued with the first digit being set at "2" starts January 1st, 2017 ... will keep my fingers crossed aas there is always the merchant and banker who doesn't get the word!!!

Last year MasterCard announced that they would be introducing a new BIN range of 222100-272099. Currently, MasterCards are issued in the 5100-5599 range and apparently they need to expand the current range due to increasing circulation. Visa uses 4000-4999; I have no idea why MasterCard doesn't use 5600-5999.  I certainly do not want a MasterCard with an account number beginning with a "2." I am sure MasterCard is doing a good job at making sure merchants know about this, but I don't want to be left hanging if a merchant can't or won't accept the 2.

CO_NATIVE thanks for mentioning this ... there are those of us who missed this important piece of information. Thanks! Also, you bring up a good point about MasterCard using 5600-5999. Funny that with all the changes in the last two years by lenders from MasterCard to Visa that Visa isn't the one looking for more Bin#s.

I read about this months ago, and my opinion now is the same as it was then... I want no part of a MasterCard that beings with "2", at least not for a while.

Supposedly all merchants are required to be 'certified' (similar to EMV chip certification) and it's said MasterCard will be strictly enforcing merchant/processor compliance, but we all know how that goes.

When I'm at the checkout I just want to pay, not educate the cashier (or worse, help them troubleshoot outdated equipment).

I'll leave the 'cutting edge' new stuff to the young folks.  grandpa.gif
