Citi AA exec and PC options

I am looking for advice. I have the citi AA exec and do not want pay the AF again as I do not use the benefits enough. However, I was wondering if it would be worth PCing it down to a Citi plat AA card. With that card there is an AF of $95 but I would get 10% of my flight redemption back up to 10k miles. Would getting 10k AA miles back on my upcoming redemption offset the $95 AF? I assume they would want to charge me the AF right away when I PC? By doing this would I be resetting the signup bonus clock with citi? Would doing this harm my chance of getting the bonus when I sign up for this card in the future?

I'd rather burn EX HP for 50K AA pts signup bonus and move CL over. Maybe they can do it on the same HP?

Generally with any lender a PC doesnt reset the bonus clock. You would need to reapply.

Shouldn't harm your chances if you apply for the future I don't think.

Personally I would change the card that would benefit you more. Because you mentioned the card AF isn't worth it for you. Or switch to a different airline card. Just my opinion though.

No, I am not looking to take a HP for this (I need to stay in the garden). I can't even get the bonus yet because not enough time has passed since my last AA bonus. However, I need to make this decision now because its either PC the citi exec or cancel the account and lose the credit line. The credit line is only like 11k but still every bit helps with util.

Is there even another citi airline card? In any event the bulk of the value since there would be no bonus would be getting the 10k miles back off my upcoming redemption. Beyond that I don't anticipate non-award flights so I am not sure the card would have much additional value. If I redeem an award for biz or first will I get free baggage check as part of the award or will I need to pay extra for that? That could add some additional value to the card. Basically the question boils down to would 10k AA miles be worth $95. Fringe benefits would be keeping the credit line open for util purposes and if I did need to take a paid flight over the next year there would be some additional perks.

If not eligible for Plat 50K, then PC down to it as 10K miles is certainly worth $95.

Re: Citi AA exec and PC options

My parents used to have an AA card and were able to get Citi to waive the AF over the phone. This only worked for them once, so it's likely a YMMV thing, but still worth a try!

Re: Citi AA exec and PC options

Even with a lowball valuation of 1 mile at $0.01 (most would value higher than this), 10k miles is worth $100, so the AF is definitely worth paying.

Re: Citi AA exec and PC options

They wouldn't do a HP on a PC would they?

Re: Citi AA exec and PC options

No, a PC should not require a HP, whereas obviously opening a new acct/moving CL over would, so if you want to stay gardening, a PC or closing the account are the only real options.
