Indeed, targetted lovelies are nice. I was approved for the 2nd AA PS back in January with the targetted 50K offer (which was also a public promo) and subsequently received the snail mail with the 60K one within a week, they were able to match it once the spending requirement was done last month + they threw in an extra 10K AA miles without me asking.
Lucky bast***!
I've been holding off on appling for another now that they seem to have shuttered the WEMC window.
LOL. I can divert the extra AA miles to the #IrishDownUNder fund if you'd like?
When did they shutter the WEMC window? I definitely wasn't going to go for a 3rd one since I'm thinking the Citi max ceiling was getting close. Was this recently?
From what I've read on FT, it appears that they have but it still may be up in the air but the Wiki says its' narrowed or entirely closed'. I may have to resort to the Business card one which seems to be even better.
As for thr #IrishDownUnder, I'm always open to contributions. MY AA miles are below 500K right now. I need more.
Oh gotcha. I hadn't read anything recently on FT after I got the last one in January. I would agree that the biz one would be the best option for now. I have about 440K AA right now so you've got me beat. I think Mia was up there too...maybe? I used some of mine with the last trip (in before European sector devaluations)
Well, I heard my name Finstar and I have an answer.... I have almost 500K and with two trips paid that I have this year for Europe in business class I will be collecting additional miles and not including what I already have planned for domestic flights.
AA has a promotion ( I am not sure if they still have it) but I do recall that I registered and I got 12,500 extra miles for each trip in addition to the extra bonus they give you for your status like Gold, Plat and Exce Plat..... and trust me , I need more
Seee, I knew you'd be up there as well I agree, we definitely need more! Well, the only option I can think that could boost for me is the Executive but I have to wait until the middle of the year and the juicy sign-up offer to come back
I forgot Fintar that I have 92K on my Citi Prestige I don't know what I am going to do with those points yet.

I prefer to think of myself as a caretaker of AA points. Hoarding is such a bad word

Cit sign-up bonus structures fluctuate pretty often so I'm not sure what you mean by "nerfed" when this is typical of their marketing promotions. What you are probably seeing is just the current on-going public offers. As an AAdvanatage member, I receive tons targetted offers (personal & biz) with higher sign-up bonus than those advertised publicly + I'm sure other folks are getting them too. For instance, instead of the standard 50K promotion with AA PS, I received one for 60K - same spending requirement. I also received the AA Executive one with 75K.
Is there any merit to these targeted offers? I get them in my email and a pop-up screen when I log onto AA.com. I haven't gotten a snail mail offer in a month or so. I always figured I was only getting them because I was AAdvantage member.

The merit is really dependent upon the opportunity cost to maximize the best available promotions. Often times, depending on the loyalty or FF program, targetted offers would likely provide a better yield than any ongoing public offer. I mean, who wouldn't take a 50K AA miles offer with $1,500 spend in 90 days vs the public offer with $3,000 spend?, for instance. This is provided your profile supports adding a new CC and you are trying to close a gap in points or bank additional miles. By the same token, if there's a 60K offer vs the public 30K, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine which is the best one (again, provided the above stipulations apply).

Im not talking about the targeted one at all though... I have seen the Plat AA over 30,000 for a long time now and when I apped it was 50,000. 30,000 for $1,000 is nice but pretty low compared to the Gold with its 25,000 looking at it purley in point value
There are still some public, non-targetted offers that are higher than the ones you listed. Just gotta know where to look. For instance, there was even one for 50K with $1,500 spend not long ago.
I am talking specifically about the one you get from Citi.com .... Pretty low offerings imo where it's not even worth doing until they decide to higher the bonus

Well, the 50k offer is still there on Citi.com for some who can view it on their desktop or mobile device and can still get the public offer. I just checked on the website and it displays for me (even though I already have 2 AA MCs). When I click the link to apply, nothing changes as far as the offer parameters. To satisfy your curiousity, below is a snapshot of the actual link/splash page for the AAdvanatge Platinum Select MC. Looks to me like $50K on Citi.com.
I had a colleague try it for kicks, and it displayed for him as well. Also, one member (12njoy) who recently got approved for the same card (under the 30K promo) used the prequailifier tool afterwards (still from Citi.com) and the 50K offer popped up. *shrugs*
Ya just did pre-qualifier and 50k showed up for me, although have inviation for 60k that pulls up if I put code in and my last name and zipcode. 30k shows up if I just went through main page shrug.
