Citi Prestige through product conversion?

Re: Citi Prestige through product conversion?

I've already made the product change before I purchased something from KFC. Why am I not earning under the Prestige rate? What can I do now to get the points from Citi? I also notice my Thank You balance for my Prestige is 0 points. What can I do to link it to my Premier card?

I would probably wait for the statement to close before worrying or at the very least wait until you recieve the new card in the mail and activate it. It is likely all related to the account transition.

Re: Citi Prestige through product conversion?

If you want to pool your TYP from multiple cards together into a single bucket once your Prestige card is activated you call Customer Service and explain to them what you want.  A regular CSR cannot do that,  they will need to transfer you to a different group that IIRC is based out of Ohio who can do this for you in a matter of minutes. .   Also from memory that group is not available 24x7 so you may need to time your call accordingly.

Different cards can have different retention periods for TYP so anyone that pools together TYP from multiple cards into a single bucket needs to be aware of this and track their points accordingly.

Re: Citi Prestige through product conversion?

That's what I suspect, but there were couple of guys here telling me that I'll be earning under the Prestige rate and yet, it appears that I'm earning under the AA rate.

Re: Citi Prestige through product conversion?

I had no idea. I thought I have something like 60 days to use up the TY points if I close the account? So are you against pooling the points across the cards?

I'm not against pooling - I did it myself in part because I don't want to be bothered with managing multple TYP accounts.

I haven't closed a card that contributes to my pool so I can't speak from personal experience what happens to TYP if you close the card, but I do know that if you earned TYP that have a time bound on redemption before pooling that time bound still carries forward after the pooling.

@Anonymous Just slow down and let things work their way through.  You're getting yourself worked up for no reason.  Things will play out...just give it time.  As for combining ThankYou point accounts you can now do this online, you don't have to call.  The only time I hear of someone having issues combining TYPs online is if something is off between each account.  For example someone used their middle initial on one approval and didn't on the other.  For the TYP to be combined online (or even over the phone) EVERYTHING must match exactly.

The play for combining accounts used to be if one had another TYP card that had an uplift.  Before the recent changes to the Premier, the play for combining my accounts were 1cpp cash out if I wanted because of my Prestige, I would get 25% uplift on air fare booked through the portal because of the Premier, and I would get 10% back of my redeemed points because of my Rewards+, and the Double Cash was linked so the ease of moving from cash back to TYPs.

With the recent change of the Premier being able to redeem for cash back at 1cpp without the Prestige makes combining something one can do but there isn't a real benefit to doing so besides not having to manage your points via separate accounts.  Now if one still has the Rewards+ then the 10% back play still makes sense as it relates to combining.

Re: Citi Prestige through product conversion?

So here's an update for you guys. The first transaction still hasn't been updated with the Prestige earning rate. The second transaction posted with the Prestige earning rate. Sounds like I gotta give Citi a call for a manual adjustment. Is this possible and how often do they do it?
