You can also use the TY points at 1c value to book hotels, which means that is usually a better choice than transferring to Hilton which devalues them to typically .5c
It may be better to sort these things out before applying next time so you don't end up disappointed.
If you are just using the points at 1 cent per point, may as well just get a no AF cash back card, IMO. The whole "value" is getting extra value above and beyond what cash back can get you. That's what the AF is for, and that's what transfers enable. 1 cent per point is an okay value but I don't see why you'd pay a fee for that since you end up with just 2% or 3% back on a few categories. In that case, better to use cash back.

Those 3 point categories cover many travel and entertainment costs weakly covered elsewhere, and th 1c is just the worst case scenario. Transfers to Flying Blue, for example, often 3c per point on flights to Europe that avoid LHR and those big fuel surcharges. OP got a good card, just needs to understand where to redeem now, that's all.

You're assuming I am disappointed? I haven't used my CB cards in a while now and rather rack up points for travel.
Cards used daily....
AAdvantage Plat
Amex Hilton
Citi Hilton post June 20th at Costco.
As far as the card works I A) know you can't "transfer" the points and can use it toward a flight and B) long term do predict they can transfer down the line since the devaluation of points since they did it a month ago with AA miles. Even if I'm wrong I can simple transfer them to Hilton
Please whatever you do, don't transfer your TYP to Hhonors points you'll be throwing away a ton of value.

Lol I know about the devaluation but I have 98,000 points already and planning on going to SF or Denver during the summer so I rather transfer points between now and then and use up my points for a few free nights.

Yes, but the point is that if you transfer them to Hilton for 0.5 cents per point, you'd be better off just using your Double Cash as the value would be greater. At 0.5 cents per point, you're earning a maximum of 1.5% back, and that's only on the 3x categories (plus, the annual fee to take into account).
Anyway, whatever works for you is what you need to do!

You already have an Amex Hilton with a base earning rate of 3x HHonors points. If the goal is to get HHonors points, a no-bonus 1x/2x/3x TY card that transfers 1:1 won't help much (just when a merchant doesn't take Amex).
Using TYs at 1.25 cpp for airfare might be a better way to go.
I'm not talking about a deval of HHonors points, I'm talking about the fact that HHonors points are worth maybe 0.4 - 0.5 cpp and TYP are valued at at least 1 cpp for redemption (and 1.25 cpp for travel purchase). So, you're literally throwing away 60% of your value right off the bat.
Haven't done the math yet but you can transfer TYP to Etihad guest, and book AA
