If you're in the same boat as me who never uses the DoubleCash anymore because you have other cc's that will benefit you more and are just sock-drawer'ing the DoubleCash, then I think conversion to Rewards+ makes sense whether you get the 15k bonus or not. The phone rep told me I'd get the bonus with a conversion but I'm doubtful based on people's feedback.

The main benefit I'm looking for with this conversion is using TY points for Amazon promos, similar to the promos for Chase, AMEX, and Discover (See links below). Although it is a small promo amount, it beats $0 rewards with sock-drawer'ing it.

It's not like the card costs anything to have, but the promos aren't guaranteed. You may not be targeted for them. It is a small amount to hope for, but it's still better than nothing if you are literally never using the DC. I just wouldn't get hopes up too much about the Amazon promos. They are generally pretty targeted and only happen once or twice a year anyway.

The AMEX one just worked for me. I just used it to purchase a Samsonite Business One caryon bag. Between this $30 offer and $46 gift card balance I forgot about.... $26 for it. Hey, at least it worked right? Thanks for the info!

Good Luck!

Agreed, the promos aren't guaranteed, are targeted, and run maybe 1-2 times a year. With that, I think the target rate is pretty high based on my experience on getting the AMEX and Chase promos. Here's how it went:

I didn't know about these promos until less than a week ago when they've been running for a few months now. The guides for these promos say to add your card with the relevant rewards points, wait about 24 hours, and check the promo link to see if you're targeted. I added my AMEX, Chase, and Discover cards all at once. The next day, I was targeted for AMEX. 2 days later, I was targeted for Chase. The Discover promo seems to have been expired for a little while so no go on that. Now I'm just waiting for the Citi card to show up in the mail. Good luck to you all who go for the promos.

Citi Rewards+...regarding my Citi Premier, depending on what happens with the Sears MasterCard and whether I start getting the 10x offers, I'll likely either downgrade it to the Rewards+, leave it as a Premier, or upgrade it to a Prestige.

Re: Citi rewards+ now live anyone going for it?

They've escalated from emails to physical mailers. I'm curious if a person holds out long enough, they'll start offering some real perks to switch?

I've never really seen that, but I guess you never know. They just like to bombard people with mailers.

The Rewards+ is a basic level card so I doubt they would offer a huge perk to switch. I would think the best you could hope for is a tiny TY points bonus (like 1,000, 2,500, or something like that).

Re: Citi rewards+ now live anyone going for it?

So I decided to go ahead and PC my Diamond Preferred to Rewards+ after receiving the email last week.  They also sent me a physical mailer, too.  Diamond Preferred is not a totally useless card.  There are Citi Easy Deals that give you big discounts on gift cards, and constant targeted offers (at least in my case).  I decided to take them up on the offer since they are always giving me 5% back targeted offers on this card and bonus TYP offers on my Premier card, and TYPs are more valuable to me than statement credits.

I'd previously asked on here about how multiple TYP cards were handled since I was considering a PC to Prestige: whether they were handled like MR cards where all points dump into a single bucket, like URs where you can transfer them between accounts, or whether each card had its own TYP account and the points were relegated to each card.  The answer I received was that they were like MRs and all went into a single account.  Unfortunately, I logged into my account today, the PC has been completed and I see this:

Screen Shot 2019-01-26 at 10.49.56 AM.png

It appears that the card was assigned its own TYP account.  Smiley Sad  Outside of targeted bonus TYP offers, I would have zero reasons to even consider using the Rewards+ card.  If those points are going to go into a second TYP account, then I'm not even sure if that makes sense because it would take forever to get a meaningful amount of points do redeem for airfare or transfer to Air France/KLM or Virgin Atlantic.  Am I missing something?

Possibly I am.  When I actually click Redeem or Point Summary on that 0 point account, it takes me a screen that shows that I have 17,100 points (already used around 75k for airfare purchase a while back), but where it reads "Your current ThankYou Member account includes the following account(s) listed below" it only shows my Premier.  So should I just expect the Rewards+ to show up there sometime in the next few days?

Also curious as to whether the 10% Point Back will stack with the usual Premier redemptions?  If so, that's effectively 1.11:1 on FlyingBlue and Virgin Atlantic or 1.39 cents per point on airfare redemptions, or 6.94% back toward airfare on 5 TYP per dollar purchases.

My experience with TYP is old (back when the premier had flight miles etc) but then even though the points were pooled, there was a concept of "sponsor" (which card did the points come from) and the points weren't treated equally.   So let us know what you find out!

I got the mailer inviting me to switch my DC to the Rewards+      For a few seconds I thought about it more: I don't use the DC as I have Fidelity and now PayPal, so......    But it still seems to make sense only if I have a ton of less than $5 transactions, as otherwise the DC would still earn more.   And as I don't, and don't want to change habits to do so, I threw the mailer out.

You can call the 800-number on the back of the Rewards+ card and explain to the CSR you want to make sure that both cards are combined under the same TYP account.  IME the standard CSR doesn't have necessary access and they'll transfer you to a TY rep who can doublecheck and make any needed changes while you're on the phone.   It'll be a bit easier for them if you have your TYP account number when you call but if not they can crossreference and find it.
