Hello:
Does anyone have a Shell Mastercard? What has been your experience with this account? I was recently approved for one, and am wondering what to expect. It will be my first Citi account.
They pulled TU, and my score was 768. They gave me a measly $750 CL, but I know they will increase it (hopefully) after some of my recent $10k+ accounts start reporting. Let me know what y'all think!
Shell/Citi seems to be super conservative...I got instantly approved for the Shell Drive for Five with a $400 limit, and a year later I asked for a CLI and got $800. It's been there since. They don't seem to do auto CLI, and I haven't ever asked for a really high CLI before, so I'm not sure about their approval for high limits or counters.
I didn't even realize you could still apply for the Mastercard
I thought it was discontinued!
It's still out there! I looked into the cardholder agreement, and it said, "Some credit lines may be as low as $750." That means they gave me the lowest available, even with a 768. Maybe there's a difference between the Mastercard and the store version? I know my DGMA has one she opened in 1990. I was managing her credit briefly, and I requested her store card be increased from $750 to $4,500, and she was approved. They have since reduced it to $4,100, but the rest remains intact. I am also thinking about a future PC on this card. Possible?

It was reintroduced sometime ago this year. It still has a very subpar gas reward structure based on elegible monthly purchases IMO. To even qualify for .10c off, your minimum monthly cycle purchases need to be $500 or above. But, as they say, there's a lid for every pot and some folks like/use this card.

Unfortunately, no. Citi does not allow any PCs on any of their private label cards to other Citi products.

Hmm, interesting! I am considering a CLI on the card sometime in Jan/Feb, so I will consider shooting high, maybe $5k.
Finstar, thanks for letting me know the card was revamped! Although the Shell card is my most useless card in the bunch, it does have it's purpose.
Unfortunately PC's don't go well with Citi for their store cards
you could give it a shot, but it likely won't work.
