The pruning in my garden has begun...called Cap 1 today and cancelled my "more cash/quicksilver" card this morning. Very polite CS. I have had the card for about two years and with a tiny 3K CL. I had asked for a CLI, I was told I do not put enough spend on the card...OK If Cap 1 thinks I don't use it enough that was my "go ahead and close it" epiphany, with all the other cards and high CL I have, WHY keep this when they obviously do not want to work with me to grow it. I have had issues with fraud with Cap 1 and they just don't feel like a partner with me, unlike AMEX, Chase and Discover. SO happy to have sawed off a dead limb in my garden tree!! Happy weekend all!
Congrats! You have great cards.
Congrats!! I am trying to build my courage to close one of my cards!!

thanks, I have to thin the herd...I can't even fit them all in my signature....yes I have a problem. But from being on this forum and finally understanding credit I felt it was not worth keeping in my portfolio and would rather concentrate on the companies that want to work with me....it is a good feeling to cut loose some of the excess, in my case I don't have to worry about my score taking a dip.....so for my situation it is a good thing!

Hopefully people will learn from your example, credit is a journey not a race
Congrats, I think I may be getting to the point where i want to close my capital one cards as well.
Good for you! You have a great line up of cards, and if the Cap1 no longer served your needs, then pruning it was a good move. It feels great to be able to move on once you've built up your CC portfolio and only keep what works best for you. Congrats!

Thanks tinuviel so true and I must thank the support of the "garden" for this. After learning about credit "on the street" it's nice to have a place with such a wealth of information to draw from....and great people to keep me from apping every time a CC catches my eye!!
