OH! You might start a new fad. I remember when I was in school, the girls had their bra burnings, the guys had their draft card burnings.

How about a burn-my-crummy-credit-card burnings? (do they burn? lol)

Re: Closed my Orchard Bank card today

God, you guys are harsh on HSBC.  I had an Orchard with $300 and increase to $600 over 1 year, the pre-approval for an HSBC gold card in mail.  No AF, 14.24%.  Got it and they matched Orchard CL.  Now combined both, so $1,200 and no AF and 14.24%.  I can't complain with the way they have treated me.  They have been good.  I will keep my HSBC card and am proud of it.  They gave me a chance and have began to grow with me.  After all the posts here about HSBC negativity, I thought I should at least share a good experience.

Re: Closed my Orchard Bank card today

Well -- Everyone is entitled to there own opinion... While Orchard Bank and Household Bank are rebuilder cards, they actually did help my score a year ago. The only drawback I ever felt about those cards -- Was the customer service. Down right awful, I even had one customer agent specialist try to explain how eating McDonalds 30 days in a row is somehow bad for you...

Let's raise our glasses and salute the demise of one more OB card (actually any sub-prime card)

Re: Closed my Orchard Bank card today

You guys are all great ...

I know it's time to move on.

I think the remorse is because they were good to me.  I just don't understand why they did not want to grow with me.

It's their loss anyhow, because I have paid them a lot of money over the years!!!!

Re: Closed my Orchard Bank card today

I closed my HSBC BB card that only had a $300 limit because I got a bunch of new cards, wamu, amex, chase, when after closing it my TU score dropped like 20 points i was like 710 and down to 680ish, well thats because my new accounts are reporting yet so it's only showing 2 live accounts and 1 closed Smiley Sad I hate to see my score drop it makes me sad

Re: Closed my Orchard Bank card today

Bman, this is one of the reasons why I don't close cards....but, I am feeling lately that I need to let some of them go.  I just know it will negatively affect my score...

Re: Closed my Orchard Bank card today

It's OK, guys, the only potential hit to your scores is from losing that whopping $300 to add to your total util. That thing will still be staring at you for another 10 years on your credit reports. It did its job.

For reassurance, find one of fused's posts and click on his "closing credit cards" link in his siggy.
