Combined AMEX ED into AMEX BCE

They only allow you to transfer 75% of the credit line so $1500 into my BCE making it $4500 now.

Was advised to wait 7 to 10 days to close my ED.

So that one will be gone soon.

Now to get Barclay to give me some love.

Goal is all cards over $5k.

250k+ CL and climbing.

Re: Combined AMEX ED into AMEX BCE

Congratulations to you. I have a BCE and a BCP and am interesting in moving my limits around.  Can you tell how long did you have each card and was this done via chat, SM or phone?  Thanks

Re: Combined AMEX ED into AMEX BCE

Congrats on your consolidation! I tried to do this a few months back. Apparently I didn't have my ED and SPG long enough to allow them to be merged with the BCP. My patience is thin at times. I called and told Amex to just close both! Lol

Hope you have better luck with Barclay's than I. Good luck

I'm down to one card at $5k and that one will be gone by August.

What is the waiting period? For the donor and receiver cards?

IME with moving CLs 13 months (or statements?) on donors, hard rule due to CARD act. Receiver sometimes people are quoted 60 days, sometime they're not. I was able to move from my few year old TE but not my new-ish BCP when I opened my EDP (almost immediately).

I've never heard the 75% rule before on combining/closing cards. Is that the experience of others?

Re: Combined AMEX ED into AMEX BCE

13 months is what they told me, no sooner.

Yes I was surprised by the 75% rule.

So my ED sits there with $500 on it until I close it.

They are really pushing me to upgrade my BCE to a BCP, anyone ever get the AF waved?

250k+ CL and climbing.
