"IF" so, my sincere condolences
From Comenity's message, it doesn't appear that the portfolio is being sold. They specifically state that you'll be able to continue to log in and make payments after the shutdown date.
I hope I don't have to reapply for a new card.

that's what I got from message as well. Like you, there will be some who won't want to reapply. Mortgage, HP, or just don't want to bother.
Some may no longer have score or profile to support app. From a corporate standpoint, this wasn't thought out.

The CSR did check with his manager before I relayed this lil tidbit.
According to a manager at Wayfair we will not need to reapply. He seems to think we will keep our current cl's too. He said we should be receiving correspondence sometime between now and Sept 1st. from the new bank. The info. is limited.
