Confused about advice

Do secured cards do credit checks? I don't want another HP, but I was thinking about dropping 1-1.2k on a secured card and having that be my third card for a while, especially if chase does secured cards.

to my knowledge chase doesn't have any secured cards.

and secured cards do require a HP.
