Continuing to improve my score - looking for advice

Hello all,

I've been lurking here reading and would like some input on continuing to improve my score. I apologize in advance if I haven't searched enough, etc.

I currently have 3 store credit cards, 2 of which have a $0 balance and haven't been used in YEARS. One has a $1000 limit, the other has a $7600 limit. The last card is a Best Buy store card which I owe ~$800 on with a $2500 limit.

I have a vehicle loan in my name with a ~$3700 balance that is current.  I also have ~$20k in student debt through subsidized loans that are deferred until I graduate.

I'd like to open a regular credit card to continue to build my credit. What would be a good card to aim for? Do I need more than one card? Should I apply for both at the same time?

I'll try to provide any other info you guys might need. Please help a noob.

Welcome to the forum

Fico scores(3)?

What cards do you have now?

What type of cards are you looking for? cash back travel?

Where does most of your monthly spend go food gas etc?

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

-Ex: 781, Eq: 767, Tr: 734

What cards do you have now?

-The store cards are at JCpenny, Jared, and Best Buy. I don't have a true MasterCard/visa/ discover, etc

What type of cards are you looking for? cash back travel?

- I don't travel much, cash back would be great

Where does most of your monthly spend go food gas etc?

-Mostly gas due to a long commute

Your scores are great..

Personally I would look into Chase Freedom - Amex Everyday or Blue Cash - Discover It.

Welcome the forum as well! Do you know your AAoA?

Re: Continuing to improve my score - looking for advice

According to the report I just pulled, the oldest account is almost 7 years, average says 3 years, which might hurt me?

My AAoA is 3 months and my lineup is something that I'm proud of. You should have no problems being approved!

No collections, late payments or anything. I think that's what you mean by baddies?
