Conversion offer - Citi DC card

I have an old Citi ATT Universal card and have received an offer to convert to the DC card.   Has anyone else received an offer like this?  WIll it result in a HP?  The live chat guy couldnt answer the question and the link only asks info to confirm my ID - nothing states it will be an HP.  I dont want to lose my Garden status but would love to convert the card.

I would call on the phone to confirm. If they don't know, politely escalate it to their supervisor.

I wonder if this would fall in line with the cIti forward card too. After they changed their point system, I haven't used the card at all. But when I asked to switch to the Citi DC, i was told it would be considered a new app (-.-)

Re: Conversion offer - Citi DC card

i used to be a manager at a citi credit card call center. As far as i remember if you go into a card that doesnt have a anual fee there should be no HP, however if you go from a no anual fee card to one with a fee (since its more premium) there would be a HP... Again as they always told us the C in Citi stands for change, we would have hourly changes in card policies, so i would suggest you call the agent first CSR agents have more info and pull than either the internet or even the bank agents.

Often when a credit card issuer sends such an offer, it is because the card you currently have is no longer offered, and usually does not require a hp. I believe they have to recieve your authorization, either written or oral on a recorded line, in order to do a hp. In the case of a co-branded card such as yours, it probably means that ATT Universal and Citi failed to come to terms on a new contract, and that card will likely be canceled shortly. The offer to convert is probably Citi not wanting to lose the customers of the ATT Universal. I just pulled up a google search for that card, and as of June 2016, Citi was suing ATT Universal for trademark infringement so the relationship of those 2 entities appears rocky at best.

Re: Conversion offer - Citi DC card

I'm not sure if it will be a hard pull or not but what I do when I'm avoiding hard pulls is go to each of the bureaus and lock your reports (It'll cost between $10 and $15 for all three). Once done you can go try this or request CLIs or whatever you're trying to do and the hard pulls will simply be rejected but the soft inquiries will be allowed. Give it a shot. Smiley Happy

Re: Conversion offer - Citi DC card

The nice CSR said no HP, it would not effect my credit so I cliick, accept and continue.  Screen then says thanks for converting your card, we will send you a letter shortly about your account status.  Um, ok, I guess.  Given what was stated above, I wonder if they will use this to close my account.  I wouldnt think so but I have seen lots of weird credit stuff.

Scores below - util reporting at 9-11%.

If they offerd the PC it will not be a HP. I changed my old AT&T Universal Card to Thankyou Preferred, no HP. Then, last year they sent me an offer to upgrade to Thankyou Premier fee free for the first year; again no HP. My account number has changed and yours should too. My AT&T BIN (the first 6 digits of a card) was 539882; when changed to Thankyou Preferred it was changed to their standard 542418 BIN and upon the upgrade to Premier the account number again changed to 546616 (World/World Elite BIN). The DC is usually a World Elite yet it maintains Citibanks standard 542418 BIN.

Anyway, you should not see a HP but you most likely will have a new account number if your AT&T started with 5398/5396 or 5491. Online it will show your current AT&T card, then you will see a note about how they have sent a new card and when you activate it, the old card will close and then you can remove it from online account management.

Re: Conversion offer - Citi DC card

Because it's a cobranded card, things may be a little different, but my wife finally took Citi up on the constant PC offers they were mailing her to change her Diamond Preferred to Double Cash last year.  Same account number and nothing changed on her reports at all.  Because they are drastically different BINs and Citi may issu you a card with a new number, there is a chance that your card may show as closed on your reports but the new card would be reported with an opening date the same as your current one.  That's actually a bit of a boost for your scores when it happens to older cards.  Certainly no HP but no guarantee on keeping the account number; Citi usually mentions that (card number) specifically when they offer you a PC.

CO_NATIVE did all this changing to a new Citi World Elite MasterCard yield a "revovling credit line" (flexible spending) spending limit? It has been reported that 542479 will bring a "Revolving Credit Limit" but not the 542418 which is a fixed credit limit. My Citi Dividend World Elite MasterCard is 546616 and has the revolving credit limit.
