Converting

Has anyone had an amex card and just received another in the mail without asking for it or converting? Is this common practice for amex?

Re: Converting

That's strange, I guess you did? What did that convert from and to?

Re: Converting

I didn't but a friend of mine did. She had a gold amex and got a blue amex in the mail. I was just curious if this is normal? in addition, another friend was an AU on her mother's amex and she just got one in her own name in the mail w/out applying. I thought that was strange.

Re: Converting

Mine was converted. They discontinued the old card that I had and "forced" me to convert. I loved the perks of my old Amex and didn't want to give it up. Another account was converted because I wasn't using the card, they thought switching me to a better card might motivate me to charge more. I complained and they offered to switch me back. I said, ehh leave it. Usually it's an upgrade when they convert your cards.
