Correct, just go to the website, and click check out. If you match the criteria, a pop up will show up. They don't need social... It stands for Wells Fargo..

They indeed DO ask for your ss#.  I've gotten 4 different CC's this way.  Ascreen pops up just as you are about to checkout and tells you that you are preapproved for $X.XX dollars.  It then says something along the lines of "to accept this offer please enter the last 4 digits of SS#".  And not has one popped up that didn't request a SS# for me.

So are you saying that you never had to enter yours?  If so how did they verify it was really you?

Well, they don't ask for a full social..only a partial...

Then why did you so adamantly tell the earlier poster that they don't ask for a ss# then?  Asking for a partial is in essence the same as asking for the full number because you still have to verify it.  So why you would even say that they don't ask for a ss# is beyond me.  Anyone who has gotten these offers knows that.

Re: Any Negative in Getting A Credit Card Via Soft Pull?!

1. I don't think anyone was adamant about anything. Do you know the definition of this word?

2. Technically, they don't ask for the social. Just the last four digits. (And some people determine a hard pull is made, if they ask for all nine digits). Your rationale is the equivilant of saying they ask for my address, when all they did was ask for my zip code.

3. Why are you so butthurt and emotionally involved in this thread, to bring it back up and reply and have nothing of substance or value to add to the topic, with the intention it seems to argue. That's the epitome of a troll.

Re: Any Negative in Getting A Credit Card Via Soft Pull?!

Can anyone really verify if theres no hard inquiry, EVER?

if you JUST go tthese cards a hard inquiry might not show up right away id imagine...?

Id be interested in a J. Crew card, especially if it helps my utilization without a credit inquiry...It says im pre-approved on check out but if i click "Yes, Learn More" will that be considered accepting the card and risk a hard inquiry? I would like to learn more about the actual card, jsut scared of getting hit up for a hard inquiry for something im not even sure i want?
