They indeed DO ask for your ss#. I've gotten 4 different CC's this way. Ascreen pops up just as you are about to checkout and tells you that you are preapproved for $X.XX dollars. It then says something along the lines of "to accept this offer please enter the last 4 digits of SS#". And not has one popped up that didn't request a SS# for me.
So are you saying that you never had to enter yours? If so how did they verify it was really you?
lol, I just did this for S&G's.....my wife use to have a Victoria's Secret card but stopped using it and eventually closed it.
I just decided to see what would happen so I went a put in a pair of panties and went to check out and it said I was pre-approved for a $350 card....lol.

Well, they don't ask for a full social..only a partial...

Then why did you so adamantly tell the earlier poster that they don't ask for a ss# then? Asking for a partial is in essence the same as asking for the full number because you still have to verify it. So why you would even say that they don't ask for a ss# is beyond me. Anyone who has gotten these offers knows that.
1. I don't think anyone was adamant about anything. Do you know the definition of this word?
2. Technically, they don't ask for the social. Just the last four digits. (And some people determine a hard pull is made, if they ask for all nine digits). Your rationale is the equivilant of saying they ask for my address, when all they did was ask for my zip code.
3. Why are you so butthurt and emotionally involved in this thread, to bring it back up and reply and have nothing of substance or value to add to the topic, with the intention it seems to argue. That's the epitome of a troll.
Can anyone really verify if theres no hard inquiry, EVER?
if you JUST go tthese cards a hard inquiry might not show up right away id imagine...?
Id be interested in a J. Crew card, especially if it helps my utilization without a credit inquiry...It says im pre-approved on check out but if i click "Yes, Learn More" will that be considered accepting the card and risk a hard inquiry? I would like to learn more about the actual card, jsut scared of getting hit up for a hard inquiry for something im not even sure i want?
I did not reveive a hard pull for my HSN, and VS card. I looked and they are listed as PRM softs. the check out trick works. i do admit we will never use the vs card, but i do like HSN when they run promo's plus they have a mastercard..........
There's postings upon postings that is verified that this isn't a hard pull, verified on other forums as well as this one. (Look at the five page Victoria Secret thread a few threads down)
