Credit Cards - Where do I Begin

My twenties totally wrecked my credit. Now that I am in my 30's and have matured, I understand and want to improve my credit.  A lot of my baddies are coming off in the next 6 months.  When I pulled my credit, I had a few collections that re-surfaced and should come off however since they have been purchases multiple times, they look recent on my report.  I sent out letters to the agencies asking to validate the debt and pay to delete.  Since my old stuff has aged, I have been able to get a  approved from new credit (Kohl's - $400.00) & Victoria Secret ($250.00).  I have a Capital One Card ($300.00).  Since I don't seem to be blacklisted from obtaining new credit, and I have conditioned myself to PIF with my new credit,  when should I try for a new credit card?  My scores are 573 EXperian and EQ and 629 TU.  I want to do this the right way. I have learned my lesson from my 20's and have been in credit hell long enough.

Keep waiting! The more positive history you show with your current cards, the better. Then, as the baddies fall off, your scores will improve.

For example - in 8 months you will have 24 more months of credit history, fewer bAddie's, and that score might get you closer to instant approvals. YMMV, and a lot depends on the baddies aging off. Don't do anything until that happens - you have a great start.
