Credit One question

I received the card in the mail and before activating I called and canceled. Fortunately I'd read about them here and knew to get rid of them. I have other cards that are legitimate and didn't realize Credit One are predatory lenders when I applied. One thing he said when I canceled was if I get anything in the mail saying I owe fees to disregard that. I'm really suspicious about that and will not be disregarding anything. Anyone know anything about this? What should I be watching out for?

also he tried to tempt me to stay by doing a CLI so my limit would be $700. And nonsense about "you did apply for this card" , well of course I did before I did my homework.

Hi and welcome

Sorry you didn't do your homework before applying, but that doesn't make a human who answered the phone "idiot"

That's completely uncessary and silly given the situation.

With that said, account may or may not involve the fee which is assessed at opening, so you'd want to follow up at least bi-weekly for the next 6 weeks.

Also, account may report as opened and closed in the same month, that's what normally happens, so don't be surprised if you see it on your CR.

IMO, just keep an eye out for any surprise charges or fees - just in case (i.e. be sure the balance reflects as zero).

That said, even if you didn't activate the card, it will likely still report on your CRs.

Re: Credit One question

Sorry for my remark, I was frustrated and had only just gotten off the phone moments before. I am thankful that I was able to find out about them before it went further. I'm at the very very beginning of a credit rebuilding process and it's all new to me. I was really worried about the difficulty of canceling with them and the intensity of the conversation got to me.
