It's as REAL as BofA's AMEX card or the CUs. Just not issued by Amex Centurion Bank......
The other cards are issued on the Amex network, but since not by Centurion Bank, they don't have the Amex Membership perks :-)

So color me confused, why would you want a card on the Amex transaction network which isn't by Amex FSB? (or Centurion Bank, whichever).
VISA is still the gold standard in terms of both dometic (MC close behind) and world-wide acceptance... so if you're not getting the Amex membership benefits, *yawn* .
Many merchants for example, Sams Club only take American Express. And yes, cards on the network (even prepaid) get benefits, especially in travel. And I'm being a little vain, it's a prestige thing. But even if I get the 800 FCIO score, I ain't paying $495 to say, YES, I HAVE IT!
