I applied for the visa and they said i got approved for $5000 but have to be a member (savings and checking) ...do i need to get both? i think am still on chexsystem thats why now am hesitant to continue with the application... If denied to the membership, does that mean i wasted another inquiry? I was supposed to be in the garden

Also how do you get in the chexsystem?
By having negative activity on your bank accounts that are not paid (i.e bounced checks, negative balances on closed accounts, etc.). This is not in reference to the OP just a statement in general about what Chexsystems is.
Also OP, I don't beleive that if you can have the CC without having membership. You have to just go forward with the final stage of the process. I can tell you that they pulled another hp for me to join so maybe its not Chexsystems....not really sure. Good Luck! Let us know what happened!
I burned Bofa 4+ yrs ago and its due to fall off chexsystem in aug 2013... One of my credit mistakes... Am hoping they approve my app...how log does it usually take ones they get my docs???
It only took me about a week to get my card and membership info....it was pretty fast.
So did you take the plunge for the membership yet? If you do it online it may take a day but on the phone you should know right away.
I’m in Chexsystems and DCU wouldn’t approve me for membership. I even reconned and explained I only wanted savings account and to try for their secured credit card and that I was re-building my credit. Complete no go. They said (as did all the other CU that turned me down also for membership) that they either approve or deny your membership and that’s it.
On a side note I didn’t know things fell off Chexsystems. How long does that take??

I have cc with them and only have savings. Little heads up..if you dont got checking with them then you only have two options to pay your cc. Western union or your banks billpay.
Yeah, for some reason they break up internal and external transfers in their bank interface unlike most others I've seen. They don't have the functionality to transfer an ACH from another depository institution as a payment for the credit card.
Don't know why, I hadn't really noticed it anyway since I have a an auto loan and credit card with them and transfers into their checking account from outside institutions are free anyway from a fee perspective when done through their web interface.
Also I'm pretty certain they will accept a mailed payment so it's probably three options
. Setting up a checking account though does seem to be the best route.

It takes 5 years to drop off ChexSystems. I have heard that some CU will give you membership if the neg reporting occurred at least 2-3 years ago and/or if you owe no money to the reporting institution.
YMMV
Rhaeny: I applied for their membership online instead of faxing it to the loan officer.. I'm not sure if it was approved yet, it took me to the page to set up for the membership fee.... does this mean it was approved???? I took another inquiry from equifax .... am crossing my fingers on this one since this would be the first 5K VISA (besides my store cards)
Mt2: did you get approve for the VISA when you applied, then go denied for membership??? did you get a second pull for the membership????
