Hi My Fellow FicoLytes:-),
I was wondering if anyone has some insight, knowledge or experience into getting a new prime credit card with a Paid/Released Tax Lien which i am still fighting(tooth and nail) to get this removed/deleted off my 3 credit reports but until that happens.I am seeking new credit cards ,I am VERY AFRAID to waste a HARD PULL for a petty credit limit or a DENIAL.All accounts is paid in on time.NO lates, just the BADDIES(PAID/RELEASED TAX LIENS as of 12/14/11).Please advise......Cheers!

Do you absolutely need more credit? It seems to me that if you let your two accounts age anothre year and get your lien removed you may have a serious shot at pretty much any prime card...
+1
I always recommend applying only if you NEED the credit. If you can let the Paid Lien age then you will have a better chance at approval. A Lien, paid or unpaid, weighs heavily on your FICO score unfortunately. (of course a paid lien is better then an unpaid lien)
Just my .02
I wish you the very best of luck!
This is a tuff one because any major bank is going to shy away from a tax lien, regardless of whether it's reporting as paid or unpaid.
I suggest a Bank of America secured credit card. After just 1 year, they will review the account for unsecured status, refund your deposit and raise your credit limit if you do the right thing with the card.
A few years ago, I was in the rebuilding stage so I started with a BofA $300 secured card. A year later, they unsecured me for about $1,200 (if I remember correctly). Fast forward to today, that same card is one of their best cards (Accelerated Rewards Amex) and my credit limit is nearly $20,000... All from a $300 secured card.

I would recommend NOT to apply for Discover. That (Paid tax lien) was the sole reason for denial for me.
I would let my accounts age for a year, hopefully you get lucky and r=get the lien removed, then app.

+1 For now the brand new tax lien is a deal breaker for candidacy for just about any prime product.
I had an unpaid tax lien from 2007 and I was approved this year for a chase sapphire preferred, my experian fico was 663, and my equifax fico was 685 when I applied, it was an instant approval online. I also have 2 small collections about 5 years old, and have several inquiries.
Zombie thread! This was from 2 years ago, so I hope that things worked out for the OP. In the meantime, I'm going to pull the covers on this one by closing the thread.
