@emptypockets wrote:As people go throught their "credit journey" many of us have apped for cards that a few years later, you wonder why you got them at all. Sometimes you only app for the large CL so you can help out utilization, sometimes 'just because' it will give you a larger CL than you presently have, and sometimes, just because you will get approved (for me Jared, Dillard's AMEX, Nordstrom Visa Siggy, and Cabela's Visa come to mind). If I was looking for a card now, I likely would not have apped for any of those but at the time, I was growing my credit so I apped. One thing I have learned from reading the forums, is that people have many reasons for applying for the cards that they do, and jsut because I wouldn't do it soesn't make it my business to judge.
For me, I was just looking for somewhere with a higher CL to park a balance for a few months and pay it off. Although I have other cards I could have used, I opted for this one, plus you never know when you may need a lower rate card. (I opted for the lower rate vs. the cash back).
I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. I already call and asked for the CL and forgot the ask for the APR after the promo.
However, I am assuming it's either 9.99-12.99%, based on my other cards approvals, etc.
P.S. Is you duck card reported yet?
@armbenderc wrote:After reading many approvals in the 5 digits, I am temped.
Stats:
EQ - 3 inqs (all this year)
Score - 737 was last one pulled from Citi in August.
No baddie,
AAOA: 3.5 years (Tons of accounts opened this year, see sig)
UTIL: 0% (currently I know. Been using my Amex Plat, so it doesn't count in to UTIL)
Highest TL reporting: 10k
What do you guys/gals think?
P.S. Also, I would have to pay to get my EQ unfreeze
Thanks.
A quick question.
Did you get your EQ score from CITI via a letter? If so, didn't the letter say the score ranges from 250 to 900?
CITI pulled a EQ FICO 08 Bankcard Enhanaced score on me recently and I'm trying to see if other people got pulled the same one.
@B335is wrote:armbenderc: Forgot to add, from OCCU's letter, my EQ score was 743 at approval, Penfed had me at EQ 797 (Beacon 9.0 maybe??)
AFAIK, PenFed doesn't use Beacon 09. It uses EQ FICO NextGen (range from 150-950) exclusively.
@kkapdolee, you are correct. I didn't get my EQ from Citi because I got the lowest APR they offered. After some digging, I got it from Cap1 green cash reward when I tried to do a CLI via online and was denied with a SP, but it also provided a score.
Thanks!

And that is fine. But, the value of a forum also lies in raising questions, such as "Is card X a wise choice for you?" as that can really help others in similar situations make more informed decisions. We could all be ultra-supportive and say "Congrats" to every card, even if it is obvious the fit is bad or that there is card that is better in every way but that doesn't really help anyone.
So not judging so much as Socratic dialog, as in "What the *** did you think you were doing when you applied for that card? Are you brain-dead or something?" Oh, maybe that is nearing the judging end.
I agree with wondering why people apply for cards just for a high limit. Some say for utilisation, but that isn't the correct way to reduce it. Paying down balances is better than just avoiding the situation. Some say it will open the doors for future high limits and that's not always true. Some say for "emergencies", but in my opinion that isn't when a card should be used. Of course people can apply for what they want, but it would be unfortunate to apply for a card with great rewards, only to be declined for too much avaiable credit from cards that are worthless.

I see. The one you got from Cap1 was most likely a different score as I think they use EQ FICO 04 Classic (Beacon 5.0).

Not reporting yet. Statement cut 10/26 so I would imagine it will start reporting any day now.
