Denied BOA plat plus MC denied recon

My friend got turned down by BOA and called today and was turned down on recon as well. He is 57 and has a great income. His credit file is just really thin..... 2 auto loans but never any lates. That was the reason he was given...not enough credit and no revolving credit. The rep didn't seem especially cheerful. Do you think he should call back tomorrow and try again? (TGIF mojo maybe) Any suggestions?

how about trying for a BA secured card (e.g., pay $X and your CL is $X)?  it will become unsecured eventually and BA is very good w/CLIs.

Tell him to get a CC from a Credit Union first. I'm not thrilled with those "secured" cards.

tell him to try penfed. if good income and good gredit though thin they will give him a good cl.  i got a 10000cl and an offer for a 45000 auto loan. i did have to join for 20 plus 5 in a share acct.

Why not?  Secured cards are an excellent way to establish revolving history.
