Denied for Amex Blue

I looked online for the pre-approval screening and thought I'd give it a shot since my credit has been slowly rising. I recently opened an account at the CU which did an inquiry so I decided to do it at the same time.

Re: Denied for Amex Blue

It's not the end of the world and having more credit cards generally makes you spend more than you would have if you just had cash. (There are exceptions and many probably visit this board Smiley Happy  )
I just recently opened a PenFed cc, making it my 4th cc in 9 years of being eligible for credit and don't plan to open another cc... ever!

Re: Denied for Amex Blue

be sure to call when you get the letter and ask for recon.
they submit it down to credit department to review and they get back to you in another week or 2.

Re: Denied for Amex Blue

So they possibly reconsider? If there's a card that I'm "more applicable" for, would they possibly put me in with one of those?

Amex blue starts at 2k limit minimum
Delta starts at 1k.
don't think you can go back and ask for different card, but you can for sure ask for a manual review.  Many of my friends have had success with recon. on amex blue with a 2k limit.

Not necessarily - I was just (barely) approved for Blue with a 1K CL a couple weeks ago.  FWIW.

I'm pretty sure the CL range for Blue is from $1k to $100k.

I remember reading sometime recently that Amex had changed their approval standards so that supervisors can no longer reverse the approval decision.

Can anyone corroborate?
Here we go again...
