Discover 5% - movies

I bought movie tickets this past weekend and it just hit my Discover bill as "merchandise."  I ordered them online at movietickets.com for the local theater so they wouldn't sell out before I got there.  Do you think this will still count toward the 5%?  What Discover category are movies usually listed under?  I'm new to Discover.  Thanks.

Discover does not categorize each transaction, merchant does. Each credit card transaction comes with a MCC (merchant category code). In this case for movie I believe it is 7832. This means for any transaction with a MCC of 7832 will be counted as movie purchase. Any other purchase with different code will not be counted as movie purchase.

 

You can call Discover and ask the MCC behind your purchase.
