I already have the lowest APR from Discover, whatever it is, but have passed through the 0% intro period. I always PIF, but would like to keep the Disco around in case I ever need to float a balance. However, I can't seem to get them to offer me another promo. Did you have to do anything special to get it extended, or did it just come up during the chat?

Hmm

I'm interested if there are any offers avalible for my account...

That has worked for me in the past with other cards when helping others get better options on their account...

Otherwise you can usually get an offer going to the Balance transfer heading on the website.... if you want a BT offer..

Re: Discover It Apr Reduction

All you have to do is hop on chat and ask.  I was going for the perm APR and they countered with 12 mo's 0% instead.  Took 2 minutes.  If you're not using your card though it might change the options...   Just ask if there any offers on your account and let them tell you what's there Smiley Happy

Re: Discover It Apr Reduction

Update to this thread

Today in chat i went for an APR reduction (6/17/2017) on my 1yr 1mo old Discover IT

Didn't get the 0% offer but did get a 2pt reduction... Interesting note... the APR i ended up with after the promo period was not even close to the one I was approved at... ( (was some 20 something apr at approval.. cant find it since the statements only show the 0 promo... which i found interesting)  I ended up with a 15.74 APR post promo and ended up with a 13.74 after the reduction.... might have taken the 0 if it was thrown my way.. but... the rate is now less than my Chase Freedom... and still vastly better than the Amazon Visa that crept up to 19.99 (ouch thats in Sync territory)

Re: Discover It Apr Reduction

13.74 is almost perfect for what they're offering right now for the lowest rate being 11.xx%.  Persistence pays off with Disco Smiley Happy  I asked them back in Dec and this month got a retroactive decrease of 2-3% as well.  Thinking about hitting them up for that final 2% to hit that 11.xx% rate just for the sake of having it lower even with a PIF profile.

I was coming up on my 1 year anniversay on my discover it and thought I would check and see if they had any offers on a apr reduction. Last years approval came with a counter offer of 23.74 apr which was the highest at the time. So called in and the rep offered to reduce the rate to 18.99 apr not the best but, better than nothing. Asked when I would be eligible to apply for another discover product and she said you are just about on the cusp of being eligible to apply. So my plan would be to reapply for another discover it product and should certainly get a better apr and SL this time around reallocate that limit (if able) to the new card and close the old one. Hopefully get on that super disco train this time around all aborad! Smiley Happy

Thanks for the post.   These types of posts are a good reminder for other cardholders to make sure they get good terms on their cards.   My standard APR with Discover is 13.99%.  I didn't have an offer to lower that, but I did get a 12 month 0% offer!  Very happy about this!  I have no major purchases planned, but this gives me flexibility if I need it.

No problem. I have learned so much since joining these forums. And am now very selective in when/ what/ how I app making sure the apr & terms fit my spending needs. Getting credit cards are much more than just the thrill of approval.
