I had a charge off with Discover 8 to 9 years ago that I never paid. It has fallen off my credit report and my credit rating is approximately 800. What are the odds of me being approved for a new Discover card?
Try for a pre-approval. If you are blacklisted, they will send you a denial with something about a previous relationship or account with them. If you get this, don't bother. If it's anything but, you should be ok.
I had a paid charge-off from 2014 or 15 with them (settled for less), and I kept getting denied pre-approvals, I couldn't even get the secured card. Earlier last year I still got denied, but it was because of inquiries. I apped in December (no preapproval) and got approved.
I would def check prequal.
I burned them in the past and have two cards totalling $30k

DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!
Around 2000 I burnt Discover for 14K and did not file Bk just let the account charge off. In June of 2016 applied for another Discover card and got approved for starting credit limit of 9K and today have credit limit of 29K. Ther is life after going bad with Discover go for it.
What's the moral to the story? Take heart and take a chance on Disco because they will let you back in at some point. Best wishes!
