Discover graduation

Yesterday I logged into the Discover site and navigated over to the credit limit increase. For the first time ever it let me input my income and submit. I got the two day message. My secured card has graduated and as of this morning I got a 2,000 CLI to a total of 3,000. My scores have been hovering just above 700. I started rebuilding around 590 in January 2016. I'm hoping to buy a house in the late spring early summer so not applying for any more credit until then but I hope Discover will keep the soft pull increases coming.

Re: Discover graduation

Congrats on the conversion!   They will treat you well from the looks of the CLI already at converting.  SP for CLI's is the nice thing about Discover however it can be hit or miss on timing.  The ideal  timing for me seems to be about 60 days at this point.  During the first year I started out slow and then got a little aggressive with weekly pulls later in the year.  No need to put a ton on it and make multiple payments to make it grow.  Just take your time getting to know each other and you'll do great.

Re: Discover graduation

It happened a day or so after my 7th statement. I was on chat confirming with the CSR about what I had read on this site that people were graduating before 12 months. 2 days later my statement cut and I checked the CLI link and boom. I got an email yesterday letting me know that my check is on the way. Good luck with yours.

Re: Discover graduation

Awesome! Congrats! I thought you had to have 12 months. I'm at 6 now so there is hope! Now my OCD will kick in and monthly I will be obsessively checking. Smiley Happy

Re: Discover graduation

Btw you said you hit the CLI buttons before getting the graduation email? Was it instantly approved? Is this common practice? I have not even bothered hitting the CLI since I am secured. Should I?

Re: Discover graduation

Bumping this up-I would still like to know if anyone has tried hitting the CLI button before graduating? Wondering if this other post I saw on a diff site is BS or not. Said it was basically turned into a partially secured card. IIRC he/she had $200 secured, hit the button and went to $500 and therefore $300 was unsecured and $200 was secured.

Re: Discover graduation

Typically on the secured version when you hit the CLI button it'll show you a screen asking you to call in and they will take some more money on deposit to increase the limit.  Others more recently have hit the button to find out that they're being converted after month 7 cuts.  Depends on the situation but, with the new policy in place it's worth an online chat with them.
