I think that for whatever reason you had a falling out with Discover and are now trying to bash them any way you can. We all get it, you don't like Discover. That is your perogative. You are very transparent in your Discover trolling.
I have had security issues with some creditors, including Discover. They were very fast to catch it and call me right away. Their security is top notch, on par with any other creditor in the US.
The phone has been mentioned many times by others but it should have been pretty obvious to you and not a reason to close your account.
My ex husband just bought a house and moved about 3 miles from me. His wallet had gotten stolen while he was in the closing process. We live in a rural area where cell phones dont pick up sometimes. He had to call about his credit cards from my home phone and he had to jump through hoops proving who he was and that he wasnt me. They even had to speak to me since it was my home phone he called from and they associated that number with my account. It took us about 3 days to get all his credit cards sorted out and he only has Discover It, Citi, Walmart Discover and a bank credit card. Had we known how much of a headache it was going to be I'm sure he would have called from his home phone before having it turned off at his old house but I guess its a good thing they were so strict considering his wallet was stolen.
i always get asked to comfirm my identity
Looks like the automatic phone menu would auto-verify you, as pointed out.
If you need more assistance and talk to a CSR, they definitely ask you questions to double check.
