I'm with the OP. I've had my Discover for a year ($1000 cl) and have inquired online and on the phone about a cli only to be denied because the account is too new. I use 90-95% of the cl each month and PIF. I do this mainly because of the ShopDiscover feature along with daily charges, but I'm constantly bumping up against my limit. What gives with Discover?
Not trying to be the bad news bear or anything......But if you request a CLI at the 3rd 6th or 12th month or the 1st 2nd or 3rd month it is still a SOFT PULL, which means they are checking the credit report...and 650-660 are not exactly "good scores" in any light. . Maybe that may play a factor??? I am sure scores are not the only part of the equation..but scores are a part of the equation. People with less than honorable scores should be looking to improve the credit profile instead of reading forums and trying to get 5k, 10k, and 20k+ cards like "everyone else". Personally Discover is one of my Top 3 cards.
Just wanna throw in my two cents. Basically I've had my Discover IT card since 3/13, and have had 3 total CLI's so far. They seemed to give me an increase every 3 months. The three CLI's I received were on 6/13, 9/13 and then 12/13. Started out with a $3,000 credit limit, and since opening have always had a balance of $1,500 - $2,000 to make use of the 0% intro APR but at the same time didn't wanna get balance too high to max it out. Maybe they like to see heavy usage on the card? The way I see it, why would they give any increase if all that is being used is a $100 a month on a say a $1,000 limit.
Dap- The scores in my sig are from October, I checked experian today and I'm at 710. I'm not a kid, I don't just read forums and try to get the highest possible credit limits. I need the extra because I use it.
Congrats Young! I max mine out every month but I pay it off and never carry a balance, they didn't give me the 0% ARP.
Look at it this way...at least you're in. I was denied altogether and told to apply for joint app. I laughed and politely refused. Advised to wait for letter but I already know what that means...insufficient income compared to existing credit obligations (credit:income ratio is 2:1). C'est la vie ![]()
On the other hand, sorry for the denial(s).

I'll keep it open for the free FICO score only I guess. Anyone else ever have these issues with Discover? I was pretty excited when I was approved for the card but I'm telling you, I'm not impressed!
You may want to rethink that. I find the best way to get an increase is to put regular use on the card. Discover is a bit of an underdog compared to Visa/MC/Amex so they tend to reward loyal customers.
