Is it different from the online one?

For me it's the same on both. Where the Discover logo used to be on the upper left, is now replaced by an image of your card. The color areas are now dark blue instead of that "Discover" orange. This has to be the second to third time they've changed in in the last year or two.

Actually when i got it in the mail I was thnking to myself "why am I still getting these mailed" lol

Honestly I need to change it with a few others as well, so that I don't have so much to shred. It's starting to wine and squeal on me.

It is nicer. And it has your card image at the top (especially good if you have more than one card), dresses it up a little.

What's a statement and why do I have to look at it?

Do you do any comparisons or do you just pay the amounts on the payment optons?

I just compare my balance with my spreadsheet and if they match, I pay it.

I've caught a few "I'll grab a couple extra bucks tip money, thank you" on my restaurant transactions here and there, as well as a few FTF from online purchases.

Mine cuts on the first so we will see then.

It's kind of crazy how good Discover is at what they do.

i noticed that, too. i don't really look at my statements, but i like their old color scheme and layout better. it looks a lot cleaner. they even have a nice font. the new one has a plain, boring font.

I just use the app to look at my transactions. I have absolutely no need to look at the statement.

That would work. I look at transactions via the text alerts I get and then look at the final total on the statement for the period and compare to my spreadsheet. I'm opening it anyway because I download the statement and store on the cloud for future reference.

i always tell myself that i'll look back at the charge when it posts to make sure that they didn't change anything, but i never do. lol. it just amazes me that someone would risk their job and freedom for that. insane...while i don't pay much attn to my statement when it cuts, i do monitor my online accts very closely throughout the month for unrecognized charges since i realized that 1 of my cards was used out of state. if i hadn't signed up for alerts, i would have just paid it. same thing happened on the same card a few months afterwards. gotta watch your accounts.
