Discover warehouse & gas

Does anyone know what stores discover codes as warehouse? Excluding Costco, I would imagine Sam's club and bj's code but are there others? I would guess Target does not since there was a separate bonus category for them part quarter, or does target code and they just had the bonus only for target and not other warehouse category stores?

Also looking for experiences with gas stations, is coding just at the pump or in store as well? I'm guessing it's a case by case basis but appreciate any data points people have. Trying to stock up on Disney gift cards now while I'm still in my cashback match period to use for next year's trip.

Re: Discover warehouse & gas

1. Target not included in wholesale clubs.

2. Pump and in store, I have tested this in WAWA, Quick Check and a few Exxon gas stations.

Re: Discover warehouse & gas

Costco (Visa only), Sam's Club, and BJ's Wholesale Club are the only three remaining wholesale clubs in the US.  Can't imagine other stores coding that way, unless completely by mistake when the merchant accounts were set up.  In my experience, all in-store convenience store and gas station purchases have coded as fuel purchases, but it really will depend on how the merchant account is set up.

Using mine at local Chevron and Shell stations post as 'gas station' when using it inside and not just at the pump

That's not necessarily the way a credit card will categorize transactions for the sake of a reward. On some cards, gas rewards only happen if the gas is purchased and paid for at the pump. On others, you can get the reward when you go inside and buy a bottle of water and no gas at all. And on AMEX, a transaction may code as groceries but not count as part of the supermarket category necessary to reap the reward.

With their return policy, that Costco gift cards should be a solid option. Asksebby I believe said he saw someone return half a chicken to Costco.

Re: Discover warehouse & gas

As noted, Costco online takes Discover. I reached my $1,500 spend buying a needed new laptop from Costco online that literally arrived overnight, and Peet’s cards (which offer a 20% discount off of $100 face of cards and I am there daily), Baja Fresh cards (same discount as Peet’s cards; we eat there 2x’s week as there’s a great location in walking distance), and a few nicer local restaurant gift cards (again at 80% of face). Note: Discover is changing purchase protections on things bought with the It, but I think it doesn’t kick in until the end of the month.
