IIRC, it was in 2009 that Amex denied the profiling, but went on to promise that they'd stop using the sudden appearance of charges at some well known discount stores (Walmart, Marshalls, etc...) as a springboard for AA. They also denied culpability and promised to stop taking AA against people whose mortgages were held by Countrywide.

Always PIF on all accounts the day the statement generates, I will never understand Amex.

i shop at walmart, target, liquor store, mcdonalds and anywhere else my amex is excepted...

so i wouldnt worry if i was you.....
