Hey all,
It's the end of 2020 so I was scrambling to use the Amex Platinum and Gold airline credits. If I made the charges today on 12/31, they'll probably post in 2021. In your experience, does this mean it'll deduct from the 2020 credits or the 2021 credits? If the latter, is there anything quick I can do to make sure it posts today?
Thanks!
If you make a purchase and it is charged today, you will still be credited. The charge doesn't have to be finalized.
purchase date
I ran to saks today to pickup a gc last minute for my plat cardholder
Awesome, good to know! Thanks to you both, and happy new year!
Sorry to resurrect an old topic, but just wanted to follow up. I made a $222 incidental purchase at Delta on 12/31/20 and it triggered the 2021 credit. I chatted and got this saying that it goes by date posted, not date charged:
Called Plat customer service, and they said the same thing. Also didn't offer any compensatory credit for consolation or inconvenience. Just a reminder for people in 2021.
For anyone who is unlikely to travel for a bit, the United Travel Bank option still works. I've already been reimbursed for $400 on my Platinums in 2021. I didn't get any extra value when reloading, but I figure it was best to take advantage early in the year. Amex has closed a few similar loopholes before.
