What a great topic! No, I don't laugh at all about those new to credit or rebuilding. As others have said I've been there and done that - we all start, or restart somehwere. I've started and restarted on several occasions throughout my life as will most people who post here. The resources available here at Myfico and across the internet give people invaluable tools and advice that were'nt available to me when it REALLY mattered.
I must admit that I do get a kick from people posting about app sprees. I applied for 20 credit cards by mail in 1986 - there weren't internet apps then, or a commercially available internet for that matter - a year before the first FICO score was introduced! I still have a couple of those cards.....
IMO, anyone on this site is here to help, be helped, or both. I can't see anyone laughing at all. My experience on this forum has been nothing but positive and as a result, I have been able to improve my score and break some barriers I initially thought were indestructable (in a relatively short time-frame). I can truly say this forum is a testament to knowledge being power.
P.S.
Great discussion OP!
Everyone startes someplace.
FWIW, I'd have less debt with lower limits.

I don't laugh, I get disgusted. I despise those wih sub-prime credit or low limits. If I find that they are in my presence, I shun them. If they were in my house, I'd ask my Butler to escort them out immediately. If it were an employee of mine, they would be fired.
Who would have thought that with your nickname? LOL!!!!
I don't consider myself a high roller, but I have been pretty lucky for someone my age "credit-wise".
But I don't look down on people who are rebuilding or just starting out. Different people start out in different places in their financial lives and different life circumstances arise that throws a wrench in things.
I've just been lucky. I can't look down at someone who hasn't been as fortunate as me, and that doesn't make them any less than me. One day, something might happen in my life that causes my credit to tank, and I might be here rebuilding.

AMEN to that! I think all of us can agree that there's an element of luck in all this process. It's a matter of timing, selecting the appropriate card, making that app, and in the case of a recon, getting an understanding credit analyst on the other end, who has an idea of what it's like on THIS side of the card. Sometimes just plain luck of the draw!

Do you ever just stare in the mirror and say, "You made it baby, you're not like those peasants at Myfico bragging about their $150 Beall's store card."
This is a lighthearted post so hope nobody gets offended. It's meant in jest. Still, it has to be pretty amusing for guys with high credit to see some of the posts here.
This is a great topic OP. Now let me just twist the living daylights out of it a bit..
I am not a "High roller" as you prolly mean...but...
I do live in California where there are more "medicinal weed" stores (Collectives) than 7-11's now...so in asking if I am a high roller, the answer is open to a certain interpretation...but
I did just get Reward points for buying a fat bag at the store after also getting reward points for paying the Dr to issue the prescription.
...and now I can legally roll while high.
I am pretty sure this is not exactly what you really meant but hehe.
I am totally joking btw.
