Do files have to be unfrozen for account reviews?

I'm referring to CC companies doing regular reviews for CLI and whatever else they review for. Do they have access regardless bc you have a business relationship with them? After a spree and a major purchase coming up, I'm concerned about scaring off some creditors, so I'm hoping that freezing my files will prevent card closures or CL decreases.

A freeze will not prevent current creditors from accessing your file.

In my experience no, they can still do ARs when your reports are locked. Heck even collections agencies can access them .

Agreed with the above. Some lenders may SP more than one credit bureau.

All of your creditors will still have access. Some will not provide CLIs while frozen/

Collection agencies have access because once they take ownership of the debt they have permissable purpose. From the FCRA in regards to whom they release your reports:

To a person which it has reason to believe

  1. intends to use the information in connection with a credit transaction involving the consumer on whom the information is to be furnished and involving the extension of credit to, or review or collection of an account of, the consumer;

-Another relatd question.  If you have reports frozen but are opted in, will you still receive offers?

@spiritcraft1, its my understanding that as long as you dont have fraud alerts on your reports, you should still be able to get offers if you are opted in. Since i usually always have fraud alerts active on my reports i never get offers.

Thank you.  I just started freezing my reports but was curious about "offers".  So far, I don't get any good offers but that will change one day!
