Do you get points for Balance Transfers?

I have a couple cards coming that have intro 0% BT and I'm wondering if these fall under purchases and will get me points.

You have to make the purchase on your rewards card in order to get the points. Transfer the balance to the 0% card if not paying in full.

Barclays Ring had a special offer that earned 1% back on BT's. Other than that, no.

SFFCU also has a promo right now where you get points for a BT.

No is a bad answer.
As usuall, ymmv.

Only card Ive gotten points for a BT is a Barclay's card- I got like 5000 points on my Travelocity Amex when I bt'ed like $5000 to them.
Read the termd and conditions, duh.

Kay but op didnt say what cards he was getting. Out of the 3 mentioned on this thread that give you point to bt, op has none of those. So i stay correct, no.

You are correct. Very rare the case where some lenders make a BT promotion available for points. Barclays is one of the few that make such BT promotion on a very infrequent basis.

You can get points out of BTs though by buying things that you would normally buy later (such as plane tickets and hotel rooms for a planned vacation next year) on a different rewards card, netting a ton of rewards points. Then transfer the whole balance to the 0% BT card and take your time paying for it. All the while you still have all of your credit available on the other rewards card to continue using for on-going expenses. 0% BT is a great way to quickly meet minimum spend for a signup bonus without manufactured spend.

I didn't refute your validity entirely- just said it was a bad answer because it's an overgeneralization imo.

Barclay's may be one of the only ones that does this, but they still do it- so it's worthy of noting to the op :-)
