Does anyone have an actual valid recon number for Amex?

I just applied for an Amex Gold PR card and was denied.  For some odd reason, the reason for denial is a lot of old information that isn't even on my reports anymore.

They said my balances are too high and my score is too low.

I pulled my reports, and it's showing $0 on all my revolving accounts, and my FICO from PSECU is 693.

I looked at the backdoor number thread, and the only number they have listed that remotely resembles a recon line is for their credit bureau department.  They won't even talk to you unless you have an Experian report number.

I tried doing a search on here and found another thread which they claim is a backdoor number, and that just goes straight to their New Accounts department.  I spoke to 2 different people and asked for a recon or manual review, and all they do is read off the reasons for my denial and won't go beyond that.

I thought charge cards were easier to get approved for?  They approved me for a Blue Cash, but they won't approve me for a Charge Card.  Amex is a weird one.

*EDIT*

I just pulled my Experian report, and there is NO hard pull!  Now i'm really confused. Smiley Sad

If they denied you, did they say they pulled an EX report? The letter or email should state if they did. If so, you can ask for a copy of the report from EX and that'll have the report number.

Oops. I missed the edit part where you said you already pulled an EX report. My bad.

Re: Does anyone have an actual valid recon number for Amex?

Denial specifically stated that the information was pulled from my Experian.

I asked the CSR that the information that they received is INCORRECT.

All they would tell me is pretty much "Go bother Experian, it's not our problem." Smiley Sad
