If I downgrade the aspire card to the no AF version can I upgrade to the aspire card again later in the year if needed?

I am wondering what options for pc are for aspire. After my japan trip I need to figure out what to do with it.

It shouldn't be a problem since you are outside of the 1 year mark already.

The Surpass and the no AF Hilton Honors are your PC options.
Yes I went with the no AF version since I already have a business surpass card.

Why downgrade the Aspire?
Because he probably does not:
put $5k in hilton spend a year
I got the card with a specific trip to Europe in mind, but if I foresee a year when I doubt I'll travel much, I'd be interested in downgrading to save the AF, and then re-upgrading in the future if I do foresee more travel. So the OP's question makes total sense to me, I just don't know the answer since I only opened my card in September.
I did this same exact thing with my aspire and now it disqualified me for SUBs on their new cards

Why downgrade the Aspire? It gives you Diamond status, a free hotel night each year, $500 in travel credits (granted could be easier to redeem). These perks more than make up for the AF. Also, if you stay at Hilton you get 24 hh points (14x for using aspire card and extra 10x for being diamond) per $1, so that's a really good deal.
I put $5k in hilton spend a year, and figure i get $1.9k in value based on the hh points and perks. Net of the $450 AF, the aspire card yields a 29% return on my $5k spend! @ hilton hotels!
The credits are not that easy to redeem. Resort credit only works at certain properties. The airline credits are a real pain to use especially if you have multiple amex cards with airline credits. I don't have any immediate hilton stays coming up. I already have hilton gold status. I already receieved the free annual night. I have PP access from other cards. Basically given my current needs I don't see a reason to pay $450 at the moment. I'll upgrade later if needed. Even if a card works for you doesn't mean it works for everyone else. If I had 5k in hilton stays I would be keeping the card, but for now the business surpass works fine for me.

Not really worried about that since I have gotten the bonus on all the hilton cards already. Maybe I will get an upgrade offer down the line.
