Drop in TransUnion CR

In July, 2007, my TransUnion FICO score was 681. In early August, I paid off 2 car loans, PIF 4 out of my 6 cc's, and added a gas cc. I havent been late one time in past 7 months on anything. YET.... my August,2007 TransUnion CR showed my score dropping to 649??? It floored me. What gives? I grant you that 4 times in past 4 years(prior to Feb.2007) that I paid late, but that should not account for the drop between July and August. Any ideas?

Re: Drop in TransUnion CR

gas card gave you the decrease + inq.
It is better to do what most high achievers of FICO do. Only carry prime credit cards and don't throw a gas , store, consumer finance or other stuff ( unless desperate for money ) in to the mix.

Re: Drop in TransUnion CR

Thia may not make any sene but I experience a score drop when paying of my carloan.  Before paying it off, the balance of my installment loans were low compared to the original loan amount.  Once paid off, and no longer calculatedin the balance of open installment loans,  the opposite caused a score drop.

Your score was from July 2007.  Didn't TU start using the new scoring model in August?  Just a thought.

Is that why my EX score is so much lower that TU or EQ? I wonder?

I was an AU on only 1 CC that was reporting to TU only and I had that one removed this week. But my TU was 635 and my EX was 603 the last time I pulled the FICOs for them. EQ is currently 645. Something is definitely wong woth EX, but I cannot figure it out.

Also CCCU told me that my EX BK score was high, but the information in my report did not back it up. She said she was puzzled by score and did not understand why it was that way.
